JoSo — Everyday Health is designed around local-first personal tracking. JoSo does not require a JoSo account and does not operate a JoSo cloud diary or cloud database containing your personal JoSo health and lifestyle records for later retrieval by us.
Information stored on your device
Information you choose to enter or create in JoSo is primarily stored locally on your device. Depending on the features you use, this can include food and hydration records, calorie and protein information, saved foods and meals, meal plans and prepared portions, workout plans and logs, previous exercise weights and machine notes, habits, daily mood/energy/stress/soreness check-ins, symptom logs, journal entries, app preferences, optional spending information, Cycle Tracking records and Injection Tracking records.
Apple Health
If you choose to connect Apple Health, JoSo may request permission through Apple's HealthKit framework to read supported information such as steps, active energy and sleep data. HealthKit access is controlled by iOS and can be changed in your device settings. JoSo uses permitted HealthKit information to display supported health and activity information inside the app. JoSo does not use HealthKit data for advertising.
Device permissions and services
JoSo may request access to device capabilities only where required for features you choose to use. This can include notifications for reminders, the camera for barcode scanning, and Face ID or device authentication for supported private-health features. You can manage these permissions through iOS.
Backups and deletion
JoSo provides an export feature that lets you create a backup file and choose where to save it. You are responsible for retaining and protecting exported backups. If JoSo is deleted, your device is lost or erased, or local app data is otherwise removed without a usable backup, we cannot retrieve or restore that local information because we do not hold a server-side copy.
External services
Some features may contact third-party services to provide functionality. For example, barcode product lookups may use Open Food Facts, and links you choose to open may take you to external websites. Third-party services may process technical information according to their own privacy practices. JoSo does not sell your personal JoSo tracking data.
Private health features
Cycle Tracking and Injection Tracking are optional. Their JoSo records are primarily stored locally as part of the app's private-health functionality and can use JoSo's Face ID/device-authentication protection. Health Hub information such as check-ins, symptoms and journal entries is also personal information that remains primarily on your device.
Health and wellness information
JoSo's health, nutrition, sleep, symptom, mood, habit, workout, cycle and injection features are provided for personal tracking and general wellbeing purposes. They are not intended to create a clinical health record or replace professional medical advice.
